Forgiveness – Seek It And Give It

Ibn Kathir reports,

“Salim’s father reported that he heard the Prophet saying in his prayer, upon rising from ruku’: ‘O God!, curse so-and-so and curse al-Harith bin Hisham, Suhayl bin ‘Amr, and Safwan bin Umayyah’ upon which the following verse was revealed:

“You have no part in the affair. Either He will turn towards them or He will punish them, for they are wrongdoers.” — Qur’an, 3: 128

Part of Suhayl’s opposition to the Prophet and Islam is that he had two sons, Abu Jandal and Abdullah, the both of whom became Muslim before him, leading to Suhayl disowning them until he himself later became Muslim.
