Ramaḍān 1445/2024

"Ramaḍān is the month in which the Qur’ān was sent down, a guidance for humanity clear proofs, and decisive authority. So whoever amongst you witnesses the month then let them fast it." - Sūrah al-Baqarah v. 185

Ramaḍān 1445 (رمضان ١٤٤٥ هجري)

al-Ḥamdulillāh, Allāh has blessed us to reach another Ramaḍān. The following will be a rundown of Ramaḍān at Middle Ground.

The Islamic Shura Council of Souther California has announced that the month of Ramaḍān is expected to start Sunday, March 10th, at sundown. This will also be the first night of al-Tarāwīḥ prayer. The first day of fasting will be Monday, March 11th, in shā’ Allāh. Eid al-Fiṭr is expected to be Wednesday, April 10th.

Ifṭārs (الإفطارات)

Middle Ground will offer light refreshments to break fast every day (water, dates, fruit, and the like) but we do not offer a full meal or dinner. In fact, this year, with all that is happening in the world, in Palestine, Sudan, Uganda, Yemen, and other parts, we felt that the focus this Ramaḍān, and the spirit we wish to cultivate, is to focus less on eating (al-Ḥamdulillāh Allāh has provided for us!) and extravagant meals and more on what Ramaḍān is all about: Allāh. So there will be no Sunday community ifṭārs.

We will be offering a special converts-focused ifṭār every Thursday as we’ve had a number of people over the last year or so embrace Islām and we want to provide an opportunity for them to also bring their families to experience Ramaḍān. We’ll be announcing the signup for these ifṭārs shortly.

al-Tarāwīḥ Prayer (صلاة التراويح)

Ṣalāh al-Tarāwīḥ (Tarāwīḥ Prayer) will be offered every night at Middle Ground led by Qārī Ibrahim Merdad.

Every evening, between al-‘Ishā’ and al-Tarāwīḥ, Imam Marc Manley will give a short talk.

We have a number of guest speakers and qiyāms planned as well. More info to follow shortly.

Starting in the first week, al-‘Ishā’ prayer will be at 8PM with al-Tarāwīḥ following shortly after that. The time will change as Ramaḍān progresses so check back frequently for the most up-to-date info on Ramaḍān at Middle Ground.

We look forward to seeing you all at Middle Ground. May Allāh bless you and your families during this auspicious month.
